When after travelling I am coming home to Germany, I always feel myself torn between a grateful nostalgia for the things I have just seen and done and an excitement for all the things that are yet for me to discover. Those are the moments when I sit down to reflect upon what travel means to me, to make plans and to allow the things I learned to sink in. Quite usually this in-between moment when I transition from travelling to living a fairly stable and organized life allows me to find out who I have been, who I am and who I want to be.
This page collects posts about my travel history and my plans for the future that spring from these in-between moments. Follow the captions to get to the full post.
Ravelling in the past is a thing that one should not do too much - not if it is at the cost of the present. But it's hard not to look back at all the things I've seen and cherish those memories more than anything. Europe, my beloved Europe, in the palm of my hand, presented on a map and in a list.
As there is a Travel History, there naturally is also a Bucket List, in other words: a list of things to do before I die. The nature of Bucket List is not necessarily restricted to containing travel destinations - my Bucket List definitely contains things like 1) skydiving, 2) learning to play guitar in order to finally do some decent 3) busking, or 4) crying at my best friend's wedding. BUT: The portion of my Bucket List that lists places I want to see is fairly large, so I'll keep it at that right here. I am sure this is an object of continuing growth.
